Effects of Several Dwarfing Agents on the Growth and Flowering of Chrysanthemum Morifolium

Abstract
Chrysanthemum morifolium (cultivar Baekguk) were treated with Ethrel, B-9, RH-531 and MH in order to experiment comparative responses among these agents on dwarfing effect of plant height, flower appearance, size, number and time of flowering, etc. Testing these chemicals alone or in combinations were studied.
1. MH showed the most dwarfing effect among these chemicals tested either when treated alone or in combination, yet flowering was delayed and size of the flowers became reduced, although the number of flowers per shoot was increased. 4,500 ppm B-9 seems to be most effective as far as ornamental value of the plant is considered.
2. When either RH-531 or MH was combined and treated with Ethrel or B-9, no additive effect of either Ethrel or B-9 on dwarfing was noted, but plant height was rather promoted. Ethrel was more so on the reversal action on the combined treatment than B-9.
3. The ordinary flat petals turned out to be guilled petals by the influences with either RH-531 or MH sprays. Change in this petal appearance was considerably recovered and modified by either Ethrel or B-9 treatment.
